Why I Teach

With a music school, teachers can chop and change – my mission is to serve my students with the best teaching and learning possible and be a stable relationship.

When I was growing up, sOMe of the best and most memorable relationships I had were with my instrumental teachers. I want to share that with as many people as possible.

FAQs

  • If you miss a lesson we can book a makeup. If you want to cancel or reschedule a lesson for the week please allow at least 24 hours notice.

  • Lessons are invoiced per term two weeks beforehand. You can pay by credit or debit card, bank transfer or cash.

  • YES! You will need it to practice at home. It doesn’t, have to be expensive depending on your budget. If you are purchasing an electric keyboard make sure you use one with weighted keys. Keys which do not have a real piano feel will affect technique and can cause comfort issues. I usually recommend anything by Yamaha such as the Yamaha P45b.

In regards to the flute, again anything by Yamaha will serve you well as a beginner. They make instruments like tanks so they will survive the wear and tear and they also function well. Any of the Yamaha student model flutes will do well.

  • YES! Absolutely. AMEB exams are a good target and achievement to work towards. If you’ve been learning for a while, working hard and staying disciplined, it feels very nice to have a certificate to point towards for your achievement! And you deserve it! There are different AMEB exams besides the regular comprehensive exams such as the repertoire exam or the ‘for leisure’ series. Which exam you feel comfortable taking and which would serve you the best differs from student to student so which one you work towards would depend on the individual.
